Achilles Tendonitis
Inflammation of Achilles tendon and surrounding structures.
Incidence:
Achilles tendonitis occus in approximately 7% of running injuries.
Symptoms:
Pain and/or swelling through the Achilles tendon and back of heel. May be worse on commencement of activity and may ease with running.
Causes:

Poor foot biomechanics (pronated feet)

Poor flexibility

Poor training technique

Hard training surface

Incorrect footwear
Treatment:

Correction of poor biomechanics, possibly with the use of prescribed orthoses
